REDBRIDGE DESIGN
REVIEW PANEL
Grade II listed Fullwell Cross Library in Barkingside, Frederick Gibberd, part of the
Barkingside Town Centre project, DK-CM for the London Borough of Redbridge

Redbridge has a rich architectural character, with 16 conservation areas and some 400 statutory or locally listed buildings. It is also one of the greenest parts of London, with approximately 45 per cent of the borough classified as parks and open spaces.
Opportunities for growth across the borough are great – not least the Elizabeth line corridor, which is seeing significant developer interest. However, Redbridge also faces challenges such as disconnect from nature and car-dominated environments.
It is essential that development integrates successfully into what already makes Redbridge distinctive, and creates exceptional places where communities thrive and enjoy a good quality of life. In addition to adopting strategies and policies to promote growth, the Council established a Design Review Panel in 2019. The panel continues to support both officers and members in achieving high-quality development.
The Redbridge Design Review Panel is chaired jointly by Teresa Borsuk, Senior Advisor at Pollard Thomas Edwards, and Richard Lavington, Director at Maccreanor Lavington.
