The quality of the built, natural and historic environments within Suffolk is one of the area’s key assets, making it an attractive place to live, work and visit. There are five local authorities in Suffolk: Babergh Council; East Suffolk Council; Ipswich Council; Mid-Suffolk Council; and West Suffolk Council. The councils have come together with the County Council and Highways Authority to establish Suffolk Design: a local authority partnership which promotes and celebrates design and placemaking across Suffolk.

The Suffolk Design Review Panel is an independent service, promoted and endorsed by the authorities within Suffolk. The panel offers independent and impartial guidance on the design of new buildings, landscapes and public space, with the aim of promoting high standards in the quality of the built environment.

The Suffolk Design Review Panel is chaired by Meredith Bowles, Director at Mole Architects, Anthony Hudson, Director at Hudson Architects, and Hana Loftus, Director at HAT Projects.
